WHAT IS ART 61
A showcase of art produced by the wider Manly Selective Campus (MSC) community (students, parents, friends, staff, local artists and even a local identity or two). You don’t have to be a renowned artist to be a part of it – everyone is encouraged to have a go and contribute an artwork.
Along with the viewing of the artworks, this fun evening will consist of socialising over drinks, canapés, music and the opportunity to participate in live and silent auctions. It is also the only Manly Selective Campus fundraising event this year, so grab a group of friends and family, show your support and be a part of this fabulous MSC showcase event.
WHAT DOES ART 61 MEAN
“61” relates to how long the school has been operating at its Abbott Rd location.
A BIT OF SCHOOL HISTORY (FROM WIKIPEDIA)
The school began here as Manly Boy's in 1954 when students numbers reached 1200 and the boys were moved to this location in Abbott Rd from their previous site - the current location of Balgowlah Boys Campus.
In 1983 the school became co-educational and was renamed Manly High School, and the local Manly Girls High School was renamed Freshwater High. Selective status was granted in 1990.
The school was given it's current name, Manly Selective Campus when the Northern Beaches Secondary College was founded in 2002 and the school incorporated into the college.

WHY ARE WE DOING IT THIS YEAR
Not only is it lots of fun, but it is a great social event for our community and also our major fundraiser for this year (we sell the artworks and the school reaps the profits). This year we are raising funds to refurbish the school hall.
WHAT IS THE THEME THIS YEAR
Each art exhibition fundraiser event has had a different theme that all the artworks from that year represented. The theme for 2015 is “Life on the Northern Beaches” – you can interpret and represent this any way you please (as long as it’s on the supplied 25x25 canvas). Whether it’s traditional paints or other media such as a collage or photography or even beading or quilting – if it can be put onto the canvas you can submit it. Go to the PREVIOUS YEARS page for inspiration.
