ABOUT THE ARTIST
I love to paint and sculpt. This year, I have moved away from painting abstract works to more figurative paintings. I have chosen to paint the sea and the sky because they are two constants that have been with us since the beginning of time yet paradoxically they are ever changing. I am fascinated by their moods and colours , their softness and starkness, their calmness and turbulence.
It is the strong colours of the ocean’s blues and the emerald greens and the sky’s constant attempts to impose its will on its surrounds that makes me revisit the subject over and over again.
I paint with a pallet knife and a lot of my mark making is experimental. I use mediums and turps to thin the oils in an effort to achieve movement and fluidity. All in all I love the process and creativity.
